Camp is an app that helps avid travellers find the most scenic route to their destination. This app is for the everyday people, that want to rediscover the wonders of nature and regain an adventurous spirit with the help of a strong and benevolent community. Camp is an all in one adventure application for travellers. It has a community page, adventure groups, photo sharing options and reward based system for finding new routes. For the adventure seekers who want to take the road less travelled, reconnect with nature and discover new experiences.
Modern individuals have a strong urge to justify their own existence through constant or timely introspection and find their own identity. Someone who is passionate about travelling would love to be on the move all the time. Unfortunately, that is not always possible, thanks to a busy professional life, and lack of company. That’s where online travel communities come to the rescue connecting you with people who share the same wanderlust as you do.
I engaged with 5+ participants from a tier 1 city. Most of them were working professionals and had the monetary means to travel but are unable to find the time. The reasons include work, family, and an overall comfortability of everyday life. These people hold an adventurous spirit but are ineffectual in taking action. I also talked to experts and experienced travellers to understand their motivations and lived experience. This gave me many unique insight as I had data from extreme sets of people.
“Sometimes I feel I’m stuck in this constant loop called life. I want to explore, I crave adventure and thrill. I want to live my life, not merely exist”
“And its not the first time. The last time we went to Panchgani for a holiday, our car broke down and we were stranded in the middle of nowhere for almost 2 hours”
To organise content for the users, we designed the information architecture of the digital application. This helped us define the hierarchy, functionality and interactions of the visual elements of the application. This was done in order to prevent navigational issues while designing and wire-framing the product. Camp has four major navigational columns which cover all bases for a great user experience. Some of these elements are interconnected for better usability.
After identifying the information and the user flow, I started building low fidelity wireframes and simultaneously started prototyping on Figma to test it with users. Over time and after rounds of usability testing, the product would be designed in high fidelity, focusing on interface aesthetics.
The project entailed research based product design which resulted in a proof of concept and high fidelity prototype of the product displaying the journey and user flow of the application. The project also highlights unique features which reflect a strong research basis. The next steps should be further testing and improvements upon feedback.
